Capturing the Moments of Joy

This was the highlight of my weekend.  A walk with my E.  E is a talker - prolific.  All the way (5 km) it is yabber yabber yabber.  Pointing out dogs, trucks, cars, trees and .... flowers.  We have to stop and pick up all flowers along the way.  This beautiful frangipani reminded me of my wedding day.  And now I have four children from that marriage!

My birdcage flower pot holder from my dear friend, K, in Melbourne - a present for little S for me.  A little touch of beauty while I am doing the washing up.  K has THE best taste in interior design and clothes of any person I know - I wish she would open a store, but she is too busy being the head of HR for a major automotive company.  Talented or what?!

The injured, doing spelling homework on the iPad - we haven't tested his hand for being able to write yet.  Yes, well, shall we say that the long school holidays have zapped all the spelling and maths skills of my gorgeous 7 year old.  "How do you spell 'your', Mummy?"  OMG - back to the drawing board.  But we have played monopoly, scrabble and did a big jigsaw puzzle in last few days.  Scrabble is an awesome game as it is good for spelling and maths (adding up the points).

Tower building.  We have implemented a star chart system for all three boys.  T loves it.  W quite likes it.  E doesn't get it!  But they get a star for playing together nicely (amongst other things) so a star was awarded each for this effort.  They can be playing together so beautifully and then suddenly there is screaming (a bite, pinch, etc).

I had a wonderful coffee with a friend (on my own, with no children) at The Jetty restuarant on Friday afternoon and it completely reinvogorated me.  I had a surge of energy and was able to do up the reward charts that evening - something that had been on my to do list for ages.  I also did Pilates that morning (first time back) which I think also helped with energy levels, but also made me very HUNGRY.  So the low calorie eating has gone a bit AWOL in the last two days as a result.

Here they are on the fridge.  I couldn't find star stickers so they have gold circle stickers.

Tom's in detail.

William's in detail.  Obviously, as W can't read - I have used pictures.

Finally - watching the tennis - D, T and Jasmine the cat.  T is going to get the shock of his life having to go to bed before 8pm tonight in preparation for school tomorrow.  Today I have to open the box of his school stuff and do some covering - I have to go to the supermarket to get covering/contact - joy oh joy.

I was just saying to D last night - that it is still day to day survival.  Nothing gets done in advance.  If it is needed tomorrow, it gets done today.  So tomorrow is T's first day back.  Wednesday is W's first day at kindy.  Just got to get past these two days - then I can see the weekend .... you can see the pattern of my life....
