Picnics and other logistical dramas

So as you know, we have been doing lots of day trips this holidays, mainly to get out of the house so the children do not kill each other.  (You think I jest, but no)  Also when they are all strapped into the car, D and I can enjoy our coffee in peace.  Two VERY good reasons to get out for the day.

But as you also know, my kids eat A LOT.  So packing snacks for two car trips (return journey) plus lunch, so that we can save on buying take away food is a big endeavour.

I discovered easylunchboxes.com in the US.  I purchased eight easy lunch boxes plus little snack boxes that go inside.  When I made this purchase, I also scrolled through all the lunch box suggestions and got some cool ideas for T and W for their lunch.  T is difficult to make for as he is G-F and fussy.

So today when I packed for our day trip to Noosa, I packed each of us individually a lunchbox.  They looked so cute, and I struggled to keep the kids out of each of theirs whilst I was making them.  I will use these lunchboxes for the kids' school and kindy lunchboxes.  I like them especially because they support packaging free lunch boxes.

For today's lunch the boys had corn on the cob, G-F berry muffin, kabana and colby cheese, crackers for W and E, macadamia nuts.  D and I had macadamia nuts, crackers and salad (lettuce, artichoke, roasted capsicum, orange, avocado).

The boys had a great time in the surf at Noosa beach.  It was blowy but cool and the water as always was divine.  Unfortunately I had S in the sling the whole time so didn't manage a swim myself.

I did allow myself, diet and all, a limoncello and chocolate sorbet icecream from Massimo's.

Ice cream from heaven.

The limoncello brought back memories of great times in London .... from a past life.

Here we are perched on a bench in Noosa mainstreet consuming our ice creams (everyone except S that is) though in this picture it looks like he is having some of D's!
