I had the pleasure of dinner with T and S last night at our local Thai restaurant - a real treat for T and I. I worked out I haven't had a meal out since last year - in fact I can't remember when I last ate out. It sounds like the old housewife lament - I just want a dinner where I don't have to make it and clean up after it. Well it is this housewife's lament.
I never thought I would have to say that - we were ALWAYS eating out before we had SO. MANY. KIDS. It is just too expensive and not worth it. Rarely am I happy with the kid's menus (all such awful food) and they don't eat it and we don't relax as we are trying to stop them tearing the joint down, disturbing others etc.
And with so many kids, it is too much to ask a babysitter (non-professional) for us to have a date night. However I have decided we NEED to get a professional babysitter at least once a month so D and I can have a date night and I can have a meal out. D gets meals out with his work.
Here is S enjoying the meal - asleep! Ha ha. He did wake up though but sat happily on my lap. Perfect boys.
T had pad thai chicken of course. I tried the ginger fish with coconut rice. Delicious. So much food we brought it home and both had the leftovers for breakfast!!
This morning we TRIED to go out for breakfast (one less child - W at Nanna and Poppy's) so we thought it was manageable. We tried two places - all fully booked and packed. So, deflatedly, we returned home, made our own coffee and D is making pancakes again.
I am happy as long as I don't turn around and look at the house and how messy/dirty it is and all I need to do. So instead I will blog .... such a procrastination tool ... maybe that is what I enjoy most about it!
