William can sometimes react very badly to new situations - completely not want to get involved and/or throw a massive tantrum. So it was with trepidation that I paid the dues for his membership at the Norman Park Swim Club and even more trepidation that we headed off on Friday night for his first swim.
But it was an outstanding success. William was SO excited to be there and be involved. And he swam like the champion he is. Big arms most of the way.
Here he is in the marshalling area waiting for his 13 m swim start.
Just gorgeous.
And here is the link on youtube the whole 13 m!
When he got out of the pool, he did start crying however. I finally got out of him, through the sobs, that he didn't want to get out of the pool - he wanted to do it again! Luckily they actually did let the kids do another 13 m event - so everyone was happy again.
Tom did his first few swims of the season too. He was hyperactively excited about the whole night. He had jumping beans in his pants. Not so much focus on swimming good races though - just on having a good time and cheering his friends on and swimming. He did his first 100m freestyle event and he did really well actually. His breaststroke is a good too.
The actual night was awful as it ran late. Sammy and Eddie (particularly Eddie) completely lost the plot. We have decided we will pay for a babysitter so that D and I can enjoy the two boys' swimming and they other two can be put to bed. Life is too short to skimp on babysitting dollars.
